Home » Bio Bio: About Owen Rohu From a very early age Owen knew he would spend his life painting. So keen was he to get started that at the age of twelve he enrolled in an adult education art class! That early interest took a twist when he was recruited straight from art college to work in the animation industry as a background artist. After some years with the Bluth Studios in Dublin, he was contracted to work for Fox Animation Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. Inspired by the thriving art scene in Arizona Owen began painting at night and studied in the prestigious Scottsdale Art School. Eager to see more of the world, he and his wife moved to Sydney, Australia, where he continued his career as a background artist at Walt Disney Studios, whilst exhibiting his paintings in Sydney. He returned to Ireland in 2002, settling in Westport, County Mayo. He staged his first one-man show in 2006 in the Oisin Gallery, Dublin, with all works selling prior to the preview. This was followed by a second sell-out one-man show in early 2008. Owen has featured in many group and feature exhibitions and has recently started exhibiting in the U.S. Interest in his work has increased significantly over the years. His work has attracted the attention of collectors in the United Kingdom, America, and as far as Australia.
